Glossary Messages: Edit or Delete Glossary Messages

Glossary Messages are helpful messages and explanations that Transfer Specialists can configure to assist students and advisors with understanding the higher education terminology and coding conventions sometimes used in transfer articulation rules. This article provides instructions for editing and deleting Glossary Messages in Transferology® Lab.

Edit Glossary Messages

To edit a Glossary Message:

  1. Go to the Rule Management menu.
  2. Select Glossary Messages.

All the Glossary Messages for equivalencies at the user's institution will appear on the page by default.

  1. Locate the Glossary Message that needs updating.
    • Use the Filter by message ID or message text search box.
    • Adjust the selections within Types to Show to limit results to specific message types.
      • Select Apply to apply the filter.
      • Select Clear filters to return to the default display of all message types.
  2. To the right of the message, under Actions, select Edit message (pencil icon).

  1. Update the fields within the Edit Message pop-up.

Alternate Course, DPMask, IFlag, and Target Course

Field Instructions
Message Type To change the message type, use the drop-down.
Alternate Course/DPMask/IFlag/Target Course Use the keyboard to adjust the value contained within the Alternate Course, DPMask, IFlag, or Target Course.
Exact Match

Mark the Exact Match checkbox to restrict the Glossary Message to matching to/appearing on only those rules that contain precisely the value within the Alternate Course, DPMask, IFlag, or Target Course field.

Unmark the Exact Match checkbox to match/apply the Glossary Messages to rules that contain but are not strictly identical to the Alternate Course, DPMask, IFlag, or Target Course field.

Message Text

Use the keyboard to adjust the message that explains the Alternate Course, IFlag or Target Course value to students/staff or the DPMask value to staff.

Use text only, no markup.

  1. Select Save.
    • A confirmation will appear indicating that the Glossary Message has been updated.

The updated Glossary Message will appear within the list, and the changes made will be reflected to students/staff immediately.

Delete Glossary Messages

To delete a Glossary Message:

  1. Go to the Rule Management menu.
  2. Select Glossary Messages.

All the Glossary Messages for equivalencies at the user's institution will appear on the page by default.

  1. Locate the Glossary Message that needs deletion.
    • Use the Filter by message ID or message text search box.
    • Adjust the selections within Types to Show to limit results to specific message types.
      • Select Apply to apply the filter.
      • Select Clear filters to return to the default display of all message types.
  2. To the right of the message, under Actions, select Delete message (trashcan icon).
  3. A message will appear asking the user to confirm the wish to delete the selected Glossary Message.
    • Select Yes to continue.
      • A confirmation will appear indicating that the Glossary Message has been deleted.
